THE 54th edition of the Castle Tankard horse race explodes on May 7 at the Borrowdale Race Course, the traditional home of horse racing, amid high expectations that the most prestigious race in the country will once again produce fireworks.
Delta Beverages marketing manager, Patricia Murambinda revealed that this year’s race will coincide with the launch of the Castle Tankard Double Booster Promotion Experience in trade – a promotion that will see consumers winning double prizes on race day.
“This is the first time ever that consumers of all lager beer brands participating in the running all brands promotion Cash Booster Promotion will get an opportunity to get their grand draw prize money doubled up by Castle on the grand draw day if they are present at the draw.
“This exciting news also comes at the back of Castle the biggest beer brand in the clear beer portfolio unveiling a new communication for the brand ‘where everything comes together’,” she said.
“This year’s grand draw for all brands cash booster promotion will be held at the Castle Tankard event on May 7 at Borrowdale Race Course.
“The prizes for the grand draw are as follows; first prize $3 000, second prize $2 000 and third prize $1 000 and $500 consolation prizes to 60 winners.
“The first three prizes will be doubled up if the winners are at the race course on race day.”
The Castle Tankard Horse Racing event is the first ever sponsored horse race in Africa and remains the most prestigious horse race in Zimbabwe.
Castle Lager’s relationship with horse racing dates back to around 1904.
“It is a race with a history to our country. It is a race which has helped to develop communities around us through employment creation,” said Murambinda.
