SPIRIT Embassy co-founder Prophetess Beverly Angel jetted into Zimbabwe last week for an evening service as part of her tour of three Southern African countries.
As chic and elegant as ever, the prophetess who is married to Prophet Uebert Angel – her co-founder of the rebranded Good News Church – visited branches under the couple’s ministry in South Africa and Namibia.
But Prophet Angel was not around, feeding lingering speculation that he is evading Zimbabwe police who are keen to question him on fraud-related issues.
The special Thursday midweek service at Harare Exhibition Park was attended by an estimated 1 000 congregants, with some said to have come from Chiredzi and Bulawayo.
During the service, Prophetess Beverly shed some light on the decision and reason behind rebranding the church.
“You see when God is about to do something in someone’s life, the first thing he does is to add to or change his name. Abram became Abraham; Jacob became Israel because He was moving them to new territories. And Jesus is still the boss of this ministry we move and operate at his command,” she said.
Prophetess Beverly and Prophet Angel relocated to the United Kingdom last year but have visited neighboring countries in recent times.
The couple had prior to this tour held crusades in South Africa, Botswana, the DRC and Zambia. Preaching from 1 Peter 5:7-10, Prophetess Beverly encouraged congregants to stand up to the challenging test of faith.
She declared, “Not every negative thing that happens to a Christian is bad for them giving an example of how working out in the gym is painful but brings out worthwhile results.”
Affectionately known as BeBe Angel by the multitudes of followers across the world, the mother-of-four wrote on her official Twitter account: “6 Planes in 4 days, 3 Nations & 4 services later, finally back home! Great mini tour 2 The Good News Churches in Africa! Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia.”
The church’s website describes Prophetess Beverly as an anointed, loving and approachable woman of God with a passion for the Gospel of Christ and a strong desire to help the less-fortunate as seen by establishment of Hand of Mercy (HOME), a charity arm of the ministry.
“Apart from being the patron of HOME, Prophetess BeBe Angel is also the co-founder and vice-president of the ever widening Spirit Embassy churches around the world and together with her husband Prophet Uebert Angel, they have seen many come to the knowledge of Christ, many healed by the power of Jesus Christ and many made free by the Lord.
“She is also a seasoned teacher of the Gospel and an avid student of the Word of God and well loved at Spirit Embassy,” the site says.
Having founded the Zimbabwe branch in 2011, questions are still lingering on why the couple relocated with speculation abounding that fraud allegations leveled against Prophet Angel could have haunted the 37-year-old out of Zimbabwe.
Not one to shy away from the limelight, Prophet Angel grabbed headlines this year after posting videos of Hollywood celebrities wishing him a happy birthday.
He founded Spirit Embassy in Manchester, UK about eight years ago, and starting “prophesying” about “miracle money” finding its way into congregants’ pockets and bank accounts.
