Summer is coming. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for The One Big Party with Babes Wodumo.
Alex Sports Club in Harare will be the place to be on September 2 when the “Gqom Queen” lights up the party with her electric dance moves. Since exploding onto the scene with the hit song “Wololo”, Babes – real name Bongekile Simelane – has become a household name on the international entertainment scene.
Her debut album, “Gqom Queen, Vol 1”, received four nominations at this year’s Metro FM Music Awards, three nominations at the South Africa Music Awards, and got her nominated for Best International Act Africa at the BET Awards.
With hits like “Family”, “Umngan’wami”, “Mngani Wami”, “Mercedes”, “Amatsegetsege” and “Thobeka”, house music fans should get their dancing shoes ready for The One Big Party.
Babes, who has become a fashion trendsetter to many young people, will be supported by Alexio, Diana Samkange, Raydizz, Trill Angel, Dee Nosh and L Roy.
Prior to her One Big Party show, she will perform in Bulawayo on September 1 at the Large City Hall Car Park alongside Andy Muridzo and Sandra Ndebele among other acts.
Although house music has struggled to find a solid footing in the Sunshine City as compared to its dominance in the City of Kings, its popularity is growing.
Earlier this month, house act Heavy K of South Africa headlined a gig at Pabloz VIP, which was a major success as some people had to be turned away after the venue was filled to capacity.
