AUTHORITATIVE, extremely witty and knowledge fountain could be the best words to describe Loston Storo, a new voice doing wonders on radio.

Hailing from Budiriro in Harare and beaming with ghetto pride, Storo, better known on Capitalk 100.4 FM as Loshto paPoshto, brings with him unrivalled confidence.

He has the ability to explain very technical issues in layman terms.

Loshto hosts the “Capital Drive Show” which airs on Capitalk 100.4 FM every Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 6pm.

He also hosts another show called “Mutakura” every Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

The musical show takes you back to the 70s, 80s and 90s through interviews and a careful selection of golden oldies.

Befitting to his persona, Loshto has a segment on the “Capital Drive Show” called “ghetto.com”, where listeners get an opportunity to tell stories from their communities.

These are usually of community, metropolitan or national value.

The promotion of citizen journalism brings to the fore important and critical issues from the “horses’ mouth”.

“At Capitalk 100.4 FM, we believe such stories reach decision-makers, private firms and development partners, and call them to action,” says Loshto.

“Wamuketa Here” is another exciting segment on the drive-time show that has made the DJ popular with listeners.

During the show, an audio clip of a prominent person from anywhere in the world is played and listeners are tasked with identifying the person.

This segment is proving to be popular and sometimes elicits funny responses, which often border on ignorance.

With his use of local languages blended with a bit of Chichewa, as he hails from neighbouring Malawi, Loshto’s mastery of the ghetto lingo blends well with the listeners.

He makes radio feel like everything one needs in this lifetime.

Suiting a metropolitan station, he tears into the history of the Harare Metropolitan Province on a programme called “Keta Guta Rako”, loosely translated to “Know Your City”.

He explains the origins of buildings, roads, suburbs and other infrastructure in the capital.

They say history is boring, but not with Loshto the history teacher!

The presenter also has serious discussions on radio.

Showing his versatility from history to hard talk, he is also capable of steering health discussions as shown on “The Check Up”.

The show discusses critical health issues and encourages people to rely on traditional foods and regular exercise.

The content might not sit well with drinkers, chain smokers and junk food addicts, but the way it is delivered makes even the most reluctant listener love the programme.

Of course, his music selection cannot go unmentioned. It brings together the old and the young through a fusion of local and international hits.
No one is left out!
Those that have special requests can tune in on Wednesday from 4pm when he hosts “The Request Show”, which runs under the theme “Request it, we play it!”
Loshto’s magic is certainly not easy to capture.
To learn more about him, tune in every Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 2pm on Capitalk 100.4 FM — Harare’s Heartbeat.
