DYNAMOS were handed a chance to shoot to the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after Chicken Inn were stunned by a determined Yadah FC at Hartsfield in Bulawayo yesterday.

With 48 points in the bag, three behind the Gamecocks, DeMbare can go atop on goal difference should they beat Highlanders at Rufaro this afternoon.

Chicken Inn enjoyed a two-point advantage going into yesterday’s programme but the Gamecocks suffered a shock 1-2 at Hartsfield.

Yet it looked like it was going to be normal business for Chicken Inn when Obadiah Tarumbwa scored after only 20 seconds.

However, that lead did not last as Jimmy Dzingai headed home from a corner six minutes later before Morris Musiyakuvi brought down the Gamecocks with a 78th minute winner.

It was Chicken Inn’s first defeat in 10 outings!

Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum capitalized with a 1-0 win over 10-man How Mine.

Pure Platinum Play, who got their solitary goal through defender Kelvin Moyo on the stroke of half-time, now have the same points as the Gamecocks but are second because of an inferior goal difference.

Mapeza admitted it was a tough outing against a well-drilled How Mine but in the end gave credit to his boys for a job well done.

“Very difficult game, I’m just short of words but at the end of the day the most important thing is we managed to get three points,” he said.

“From the word go it was a very difficult game, we had some chances but credit should go to How Mine, I think they really came here with a game plan, they really pushed.

“One nil sometimes is okay but the pressure is still on us, if you get another goal it becomes much easier. But you know at the end of the day that’s what God wanted. We just have to be grateful.”

How Mine coach Kevin Kaindu, who lost defender Praise Tonha (red card) in the 79th minute, had reservations about referee Lazarus Dirwai’s performance.

“The play wasn’t bad even though we were now a man down but unfortunately we couldn’t get an equaliser.

“We thought when the player (Praise Tonha) was given the first yellow card we could have been given a penalty.

“Praise was kicked from behind and I think it was unfortunate to get that yellow and then he got a second one when he got the ball. I think it was unfortunate again, but officiating is part of the game,” said Kaindu.

In Harare, Black Rhinos remained without a win in nine matches after their 1-1 draw against Bulawayo City at Rufaro.

Chauya Chipembere coach Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa blamed it on his strikers.

“I am disappointed with my strikers because we should have won the match in the first half but it’s the same story. We keep failing to convert,” said Mtizwa.

Veteran forward Benjamin Marere was on target for Black Rhinos after 25 minutes but the army side were dealt a late blow when Innocent Kutsanzira levelled for Bulawayo City 16 minutes from full time.

City coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu claimed his boys were tired after playing two games in five days.

“In the first half we were a bit tired, two games in five days, hence we made a lot of mistakes in the first half and we got punished,” said Mpofu.

Bulawayo City played Caps United last Wednesday.

Black Rhinos remain seventh on the log while Bulawayo City are 10th.

It ended 1-1 between Chapungu and Shabanie at Ascot while ZPC Kariba picked up a point in Beitbridge with a goalless draw against Tsholotsho.
