DIAMOND Platinumz, Jah Prayzah, Judgement Yard, Killer T, ExQ, Stunner and Trevor D: what a great way to kick-start the festive season. The much anticipated “Watora Mari Concert”, where the aforementioned share the stage, is finally upon us. It takes place this Friday at the Harare International Conference Centre.

The streets are abuzz with this show as many music lovers are eager to see the duo that gave them the international hit “Watora Mari”, performing together for the first time.

The song has become a major hit during Jah Prayzah’s live performances; but Diamond Platinumz’s magical voice has been the missing piece in the live act.

The supporting artistes will also have to bring their A-game on the day. Besides Killer T and Judgement Yard, who have had their fair share of appearances on the big stage, urban groovers Stunner, Trevor D and XQ will have a lot to prove come Friday.

The Zim dancehall craze might have stolen the limelight from other urban genres but Stunner, Trevor D and XQ have refused to bow down as they continue to remain relevant.

In an interview last week, Stunner’s manager Godfrey “Vokal” Bakasa said fans should brace for one of the best performances they have ever seen from the artiste.

“I can guarantee you that Stunner’s performance is going to be one of the best they have ever seen because we have been experimenting with some elements that are yet to be seen on stage,” said Bakasa, adding: “Stunner has a new album so many people will get to see him performing the new stuff as well as his old hits.”

He said they were honoured to have been included on the line-up of such a big event.

“This is one of the biggest gigs that have taken place this year and I would like to thank the promoters for giving us this platform and for our fans who requested for us to be part of the programme.”

Another artiste who needs to dazzle is Killer T, who has been criticised for lukewarm performances during live shows.  Armed with an endless supply of mega hits, all he needs is to polish up his stage act and he will have fans eating out of his hands.

Speaking to The Sunday Mail Leisure, Killer T’s manager Kudzai Biston said they had been working hard to make sure his performance is on point.

“We have heard the calls from fans for the Chairman to improve on stage and there is a lot that we have been changing to make sure that we give fans exceptional performances,” said Biston.

“Killer T recently released a new album so he will also get to sample the new music for the fans that are going to come through for the event.”

He said they were happy to have been included on the line-up of this show, which is a bit different from their usual gigs.

“Most of the times we are performing for ghetto youths but this time around we have the opportunity to also do our thing in a mature setup.”

Judgement Yard knows how to hog the limelight, and DJ Flevah has promised to do the same on Friday.

“This will be our first gig after our international tour and we are promising to shut it down as we always do when we are on stage,” said Flevah.

“I am sure by now people already know that we never disappoint and we always mash up the dancehall, which is what we intend to do on the day.”
