CHEVRONS all-rounder Sean Williams says he is going through hell as injuries stalk him ahead of next month’s ICC 2019 World Cup qualifiers.

“It’s been sheer hell the last couple of weeks” said the 31–year-old. “I was not selected for the Bangladesh tour because I did not submit my medical report in time for the tour.

“I had been having problems with my I3 and I4 vertebrate, and went to see a specialist, but that has since been sorted as the report was good.

“Being left out of the squad was very tough for me, to be honest. During times like these you always want to play, give a good account of yourself and make your case for selection for the qualifiers.”

The plan was to have Williams join up with the team in the UAE, where the Chevrons are taking on Afghanistan, but disaster has struck again.

The all-rounder broke his finger.

“I got hit in the nets while training for Tuskers. I dislocated and broke my finger, and had an operation a few days ago. The doctors say it will take six weeks before I can get the screws removed, after which I will need a few more weeks for it heal,” disclosed Williams.

The latest injury will see Williams miss the preliminary stages of the World Cup qualifiers. Williams has played over 100 ODIs, scoring 2 947 runs which include one century and 26 half-centuries.

His contributions are not only with the bat, as the Matabeleland Tuskers all-rounder has 52 wickets and a strike rate of 61,2 in ODIs.
