NABA immediately declared their wish to change the status quo after defeating Harare Volleyball League rivals Support Unit 3-1 at Manyame Airbase last weekend.
“We are tired of playing second fiddle, we want to win and dominate in the country as well,” said the Naba gaffer Shadreck Chisoko after his team’s 3-1 triumph.
““We did it, we wanted it so badly, we planned well for it and it feels good to beat Support Unit.
“We had a solid block, they didn’t pass well and we were quick in attack and importantly we managed to defend their power (hitter) Charles Nyamasvi.”
Chisoko added that his team is just not content with knocking the stuffing out of their cross town nemesis, they want to serve on until they are confirmed kings of Zimbabwean volleyball.
Naba’s win saw them finish the league’s Super Five Championship round on top of the log.
Action now moves to the semi-final stage where Naba will face UZ while Support Unit comes up against a resurgent CBZ Jewels.
Dates for the semi-finals will be advised but Chisoko is already planning for the final and daring to call UZ ‘little brothers’.
“Interestingly we are meeting our little brothers, UZ, in the semi-finals and it will be a huge upset if they beat us,” he said.
“The national league has begun and we are riding on good form which I believe makes us favorites too because at the moment we are the best club in Harare.
“Our standard is rising but I don’t want to take comfort in closing the gap between us and Support Unit, we want to surpass it and extend it to the Region V level.”
