Jet Stores partners with Baby of the Year competition

baby competitionThe Sunday Mail Baby of the Year competition, which opened last week, has entered into an exciting partnership with Jet Stores.

The partnership with Jet Stores makes this year’s edition bigger and better than ever before. Jet Stores are arguably the largest suppliers of trendy family wear in the region.

Mrs Charity Gwata-Chirume, The Sunday Mail Business Manager — Marketing, described the partnership between The Sunday Mail and Jet Stores as very encouraging.

“Jet Stores came at a time when we were dreaming and planning to expand our competition and they have offered us that platform to grow,” she said.

Mrs Gwata-Chirume added that the coming on board of Jet Stores did not negate the competition’s traditional and other new sponsors.

“We are making a plea to our traditional sponsors, as well as new sponsors, to come in and partner us for this competition, which is the best present any parent can give to their baby,” Mrs Gwata-Chirume said.

She encouraged parents and guardians to follow competition rules when sending in babies’ pictures.

“We are appealing to all parents to send in their babies’ close-up pictures and not passport sizes pictures,” she said. “They must not send in pictures taken with mobile phones because this distorts the resolution of the pictures when we go for print.”

This year’s competition comprises two categories: 0-12 months and 13-24 months. Photographs will be published for readers to judge on the most photogenic babies in the two categories.

The number one winners will be crowned after final adjudication.

“We will crown four winners for both categories, the number one female and male in each of the two categories,” explained Mrs Gwata-Chirume.

“This has been done to encourage parents and guardians to enter their sons in the competition and also appreciate the beauty of the baby boy.”

A lot of fabulous prizes in cash and gifts are set to be won.

The selection criteria will be based on smartness, personality and character.

As has become the norm, the competition will run for 10 weeks and the most camera-friendly babies will be selected from each of the two categories with the outstanding photos selected for the finals.

Entries for the Baby of the Year competition close on September 22 and from then the voting stage begins. Entry forms can be picked from any Jet Store or off The Sunday Mail print edition. No photocopies are allowed.
