Churches plan to meet H.E

The Zimbabwe Amalgamated Churches Council plans to interface with President Mugabe before next year’s harmonised elections.

ZACC patron Cde Jimayi Muduvuri yesterday told The Sunday Mail at the 29th Danhiko Paralympic Games in Harare that the churches wanted to spread a message of peace ahead of elections.

Cde Muduvuri, a Zanu-PF Central Committee member, said leaders of church organisations met last week and approved the initiative to meet the Head of State and Government.

“We have sat down as churches and we all agreed that we need to meet with the President before the country goes for next year’s elections. What is now left is for us to approach the relevant offices and present the proposal to the President.”

Cde Muduvuri said churches had a crucial role to play in giving the nation spiritual direction.

“As churches we want to be involved in all issues that affect our people so that we can provide spiritual guidance in the country’s trajectory.

This is why churches have been involved in other important aspects, such as praying for the rain that we had in the past agriculture season, as well as praying for economic prosperity.

“The meetings will also be important to spread the message of peace during the tense period of elections,” he said.

ZACC has in recent months increased its membership after several church groupings left the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe, led by Bishop Johannes Ndanga, to join the Cde Muduvuri-led organisation.
