Financial Markets Indaba, a top investment promotion event that connects international capital providers and Zimbabwean investment opportunities, has landed two nominations at the prestigious Zimbabwe Achievers Awards UK and South Africa editions.

The two nominations are for the Financial Markets Indaba (London) and the Financial Indaba Johannesburg Emergent Capital Markets which were both held last year.

The London edition attracted 20 international speakers at the one-day event hosted by Thomas Reuters and Emergent Capital Management in September.

In South Africa, the fifth edition of the event attracted stakeholders in the financial services markets, fund managers, South African- based Development Finance Institutions, investment boutiques and other technical partners in Sandton. For the UK edition, FMI will compete against other nominees – Woman of Valiance (VOW) 2017, Zim Connect 17 and ZimLinkUp All-White Party. In South Africa, the other nominees are Oliver Mtukudzi Live in Cape Town; Jah Prayzah Live in Johannesburg and the Diaspora 1st Edition.

Winners will be decided by an online vote.

FMI events afford potential investors opportunities to showcase their expertise and local knowledge to companies who are looking to do business with entities operating in Africa. It convenes over panel discussions and presentations in Harare, Johannesburg and London.

FMI organiser Mr Patrick Muzondo told The Sunday Mail that the nominations are testament to the organisers’ ability to put up a world-class event.

He said: “FMI has been shortlisted amongst the nominees for Best Event of the Year for the Zim Achievers Awards South Africa Edition, for the Conference we held in Johannesburg, and the Zim Achievers Awards London Edition for the conference we held in London.

“This shows that our conferences and event hosting abilities are world class.” The Achievers Awards were first introduced in the UK in 2010. The event has grown to become a highlight on the Zimbabwean Diaspora calendar and brings together business leaders and innovators from all sectors to celebrate success and the achievements of people of Zimbabwean heritage living outside the country.
