CHIVI Rural District Council chair Cde Killer Zivhu has urged religious organisations in Chivi South constituency to rally behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the forthcoming elections.

Cde Zivhu told representatives of 22 church denominations in Chivi South’s Ward 21 to pray for peace during the election period.

This resonates with President Mnangagwa’s gospel of peace and tolerance. Cde Zivhu also donated cement to build 800 toilets for churches in the constituency.

“I would like to encourage churches to pray for President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF; the party and the President must romp to victory and bury the opposition parties. Chivi should play a role in ensuring a Zanu-PF victory.

“The ruling party and the Head of State and Government want to complete various projects currently underway.

“I sourced six bags of cement for each of the 22 churches in the ward to build toilets. Apart from this donation, we have made several charity gestures and will continue to do so as long as I can.”

He identified Maringire Primary School to benefit from 100 bags of cement, 100 desks and benches. Plans are also underway to connect electricity at the headmaster’s office and staff accommodation.

“We have been putting together resources from the daughters and sons of Chivi to connect electricity at the Maringire primary school classroom blocks. Power is already available, so that won’t be a challenge,” said Cde Zivhu.

“We want to upgrade the school to enable our local churches to host their conferences.”

He pledged to donate bibles, food and transport for churches in Chivi during the Easter conferences this week. Reformed Church in Zimbabwe’s Zunga Congregation chair Ms Angeline Masvata thanked Cde Zivhu for the donations.

“We are praying for Cde Zivhu for his unwavering support to the local churches and the community at large. Through his philanthropy, Cde Zivhu has managed to transform Maringire Primary School. The construction of toilets will address sanitation needs and this will help prevent diseases.”

Maringire Primary School Development Committee chair Mr John Majoni said Cde Zivhu had in recent weeks donated books, furniture and laptops for senior staffers.

“As parents, we are grateful for the good gesture from Zivhu; with his assistance, we managed to build classroom blocks.”

Cde Zivhu’s donations are part of his five-year plan to transform Chivi.

Under the Chivi Village Zim-Asset programme, the businessman-cum-politician constructed 70 classroom blocks, and houses for child-headed and elderly-headed families.

He has also dedicated resources to assisting underprivileged cancer patients through sponsoring their treatment in India and South Africa.

Cde Zivhu last week donated money for the surgery of a five-year-old Chivi boy to get treatment of a rare disease which causes his head to swell. The child required US$1 000 for treatment.
