#ZIFAELECTIONS: Machana pitches for Zifa board

The Sunday Mail

Phillemon Machana
I HUMBLY call upon the esteemed Zifa councilors to critically assess every candidate that will be seeking office during the December 5 elections.

They should make sure that those seeking positions on the board hold the necessary drive, qualifications and expertise to develop our game. I urge them to look beyond the top position of president in trying to choose the best team to take our football to better days.
No one should be allowed to get into the board because of a perceived allegiance to a popular presidential candidate.
Let every individual be elected on merit.
We are all Zimbabweans with one flag and one football game, and surely whoever is elected can bring results provided the right skills mix is inherent within the board.
At the end of the day, there should not be losers in this election, football must be the winner.
As they vote, the Zifa councilors must ensure all those elected are indisputably capable to avoid overburdening one or a few board members.
The board will only be as good and strong as its weakest link.
I’m certainly not a weak link.
The Zifa president will need a strong, focused and multi skilled team to drive his vision and resuscitate our football.
I humbly put myself at the football community’s disposal.
I also urge those who may be forming some alliances to critically self-introspect.
Is what they are doing good for the game, is it the panacea to the game or horse trading?
The future is more important than the December 5 election event.
As for me, l shall never disappoint.
My strengths
I am corrupt free and have an unquestionable track record.
I have a strong finance and administration background, qualifications and experience which can be utilised by the board to effectively run the game.
I boast more than 10 years experience in sport administration and have done well in sport development, especially where the girl child is concerned.
I have helped develop match officials, coaches and young players. This I have done so quietly over the years.
I love the beautiful game and have invested my personal effort and financial resources into it over the past decade.
I am a team player, good listener and will work with anyone who loves to see Zimbabwean football resuscitated.
I am my own man and active participant wherever my services are required as well as a firm believer in collective decision making.
I am a unifier and desire happiness for all football enthusiasts.
What motivated me to stand
My undying passion for the game and the need to play an active role in helping to develop it.
The pain of seeing a continuous and unabated downward spiraling of the sport and the inherent drive to help our football turn the corner.
Appreciating my own and relevant qualifications, especially in finance and administration as well as business and sport administration. This experience can be deployed to good use in serving our football.
