ZANU-PF’S campaign to regain the Tsholotsho North seat has intensified, with Matabeleland North Minister of State Cde Cain Mathema urging people to vote for development-orientated leaders .

Cde Mathema was speaking at a rally in Tsholotsho’s Mpanedziba Ward 9 yesterday.

“This time around ensure that you cast your votes wisely and choose a leader that will bring development and not leaders that are not active,” he said.

The ruling party’s candidate for Tsholotsho North is Information Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo.

Minister Mathema said: “MDC — whichever formation — is not a serious party.

They are divided within themselves so they can never have the interests of the people at heart. Vote Zanu-PF, a party which is keen on developing this region.”

Cde Mathema said President Mugabe had assured the district of food aid following poor harvests and the Grain Marketing Board was stocking maize for distribution to the vulnerable.

He castigated NGOs for creating a dependency syndrome and encouraged people to create their own wealth.

Villagers said they were in need of farming implements and tractors, requests Cde Mathema said he would help attend to.

Youths were also told to take education seriously as it was a liberator.

Cde Sibongile Ngwenya, a member of the Women’s League in Matabeleland North, said women should vote for Zanu-PF as the party had brought several developmental projects.

Cde Mathema also addressed a rally at Tshibizina Primary School.
