You can only get better when you try

Over the years, a lot of great music has been produced and a lot of DJs have given some peak performances.

Yet a lot of able-bodied people still fail to dance?

I was one such person who could not move their feet to any beat.

For a long time, I never made an effort and would not even try, but convinced myself that I cannot dance.

It’s a label that stuck, because I trusted those that said also said I was not good at it.

I would envy when others danced, and avoided musical gatherings.

One day in my mid-thirties I went to my rural home and challenged myself to take to the dance floor.

I started by telling my family before I even stood up that I had improved.

It was a way to gather courage.

When I stood up to dance everyone present laughed, to the extent that they all stopped to enjoy the odd moment.

To everyone’s surprise I had indeed improved and it was commendable.

The world is like that; there are those things you tell yourself you cannot do.

Society will also join in and remind you that you are not capable.

Consequently, you avoid trying certain things out.

Or you begin to hide from giving yourself a chance, because you have been labeled that you cannot.

At that moment when you gather the courage to try, the world can seem to make the moment even weirder for you. The world can laugh and remind you of your inability.

You have a choice to get better in the next day, but only if you try.

Life demands that you to conquer your fears and improve your life.

You can only get better if you cross the line. You cannot just wake up as an expert, but you can get better with each step in the right direction.

You can only get better if you keep at it. It is practice that makes perfect, not idleness.

You may never be presented an opportunity, all you need to do is to seize the moment. The environment does not need to change, it is you who should gather the courage.

It does not have to be something out of this world, but the usual and ordinary that can take you to greatness.

You could have avoided personal development out of fear. It could be a skill that you have kept at bay out of fear.

The truth is you can get better at anything that you do.

The hours of training and practice are what will pay off. Your confidence and skills can only take shape if you keep trying.

Your daily job require you to get better.

Your chores need you to get better.

Your relationships need you to get better. You can only enjoy life if you get better.

On that fateful day I danced into the wee hours of the morning, and my family had a great time.

I enjoyed it even more, because I had broken the barrier that, for the greater part of my life, held me back from enjoying life to the fullest.

I do not want to think of what I missed out on over the years that I would just sit there and watch my brothers and sisters dance.

I slept a very proud person, and today I can challenge anyone on the dance floor.

Your self-esteem depends on you trying. Do not take something away from your life by failing to take up new challenges.

Those things that you have tried and failed at could be what you need to make a name for yourself.

You only need to stand up and stand tall when society reminds you of what you lack.

Be deaf to the negative energy that is abundant in society.

It is the voice of encouragement that you may never hear being loud.

Doubt and contempt will forever be volunteered, and it takes some courage to stand up and get better.

Gather the courage to try and be better in every aspect of your life.
