When is enough going to be enough!

The Sunday Mail

Retired Major Action Mandingo

AN ordinary Zimbabwean woman, Moreblessing Ali, who happens to be an opposition activist is found dead.

Police start investigating the circumstances that led to her death, but just as the investigations are gathering momentum, Lord Johan Oates, a British Liberal Democrat and member of the House of Lords in the UK, starts spreading blatant lies.

“The news of Moreblessing’s murder is symptomatic of attempts to instil fear in opposition supporters which have been increasingly evident. Today I tabled questions in the UK Parliament on this issue. If @edmnangagwa wants to reengage with the world, he needs to put a stop to this”, wrote Lord Oates in a statement, much to the excitement of Western puppets in our midst.

Soon after the statement by Lord Oates, the puppets did what they know best. CCC deputy chairman and MP for Zengeza West, Job Sikhala joined some opposition hoodlums as they unleashed violence at Nyatsime on the outskirts of Chitungwiza.

Police quickly arrested Sikhala and some of the hoodlums. Sikhala is over the moon because he knows soon the paycheck is on the way. He may even be rewarded with a trip to the UK or the US.

Aren’t we back to square one?

Can someone tell me who Lord Oates thinks he is? Why was he so reckless with his talk? What gave him the mandate to issue a statement on the death of Ali before police issued a formal statement? This has to stop and now!

Following the reckless statement by Lord Oates, the needless excitement shown by Western puppets in our midst and the violence they unleashed, ZANU PF has to start asking itself very serious and pertinent questions: When is enough of all this nonsense going to be enough?

When is enough of these lies going to be enough? When is enough of this political choreography going to be enough? When is enough of this Western-funded drama going to be enough? When is enough of this colonial mentality going to be enough?

Since 2017, President Mnangagwa has been preaching engagement and re-engagement. He has gone all- out to reach out to all opposition parties in the country. However, it looks like the former colonialists and their lackeys in our midst are now mistaking the calls for engagement and re-engagement as a sign of weakness.

Human rights activist and African-American Muslim minister, Malcom X, once got fed up with such cooked-up lies and retorted: “I’ve had enough of someone else’s propaganda!” Isn’t it time for ZANU PF to say; “We’ve had enough of this provocation?”

There comes a point in life when trying is not enough, when being nice is not good enough and when being too understanding becomes a threat.

Now as Rwanda hosted the Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting from 20 to 25 June, the puppets thought that was an opportunity to crank up the lies so that Zimbabwe continues to be seen in bad light.

For how long are we as a country going to allow these puppets to perpetuate the suffering of the ordinary populace?

Pardon my anger, but I have gone back to 1973. We had to be angry and we had to use strong language for us to gather the courage to fight the Smith regime.

In March last year, ZANU PF moved a motion calling for the Patriotic Bill, which among other things; “prohibits any Zimbabwean citizen from willfully communicating messages intended to harm the image and reputation of the country on international platforms or engaging with foreign countries with the intention of communicating messages intended to harm the country’s positive image and/or to undermine its integrity and reputation.”

This motion was moved by the ZANU PF MP for Mberengwa South, Cde Alum Mpofu and was seconded by the ZANU PF Chief Whip, Cde Pupurai Togarepi.

“…when Knowledge Musona scores goals and Nakamba scores goals, it behooves all of us to stand up and celebrate. What should we do when team players or those people who are supposed to be the team players stand up and score own goals. What in that circumstance should we do?” asked Cde Mpofu as he concluded moving the motion.

Indeed, what should we do when the puppets turn a domestic violence issue into a political issue? What should we do when the puppets continue feeding lies to irresponsible Lords? Isn’t the Patriotic Act long, long overdue? And since March last year, why is there inertia in pushing for this important piece of legislation? Why is ZANU PF not using its numbers to make this the top priority in Parliament?

President Mnangagwa warned us during the last Ordinary Session of the Politburo to get ready for these dirty tricks and lies from the opposition. This is the only game that the opposition knows and they will play it with reckless abandon.

They will talk about the usual nonsense – reforms, democracy, rule of law and human rights; and they will cook up stories to authenticate their lies. There is no doubt, they will get very dirty with their politics. If they can turn a domestic violence case into a political issue, what else should we expect from them?

On Tuesday, Cde Togarepi revived debate in Parliament on the Patriotic Bill. ZANU PF should make the passing of this Bill its top priority. The opposition, backed by their western masters will cry foul and argue that this Bill is a threat to freedom of expression and so on. ZANU PF should not listen to these soft-terrorists in our midst who have killed thousands of Zimbabweans by calling for sanctions against the country.

As the country heads towards the 2023 elections, the opposition will repeat the tired chorus about electoral reforms and say the “playing field is even.”

How can the playing field be even when the illegal sanctions are crippling ZANU PF? With the sanctions in place, ZANU PF will, yet again go for the 2023 elections with its hands tied at the back. Can we really say the playing field is even when ZANU-PF is like a boxer who is getting into the ring with his hands tied at the back?

When the US was humiliated by the Osama Bin Laden-led al-Qaeda on September 11, 2001, it took lawmakers in that country less than two months to pass the USA Patriot Act.

The Act is meant to deter and punish terrorist acts in the US and around the world. The US was very swift in its response when terrorists used planes as weapons.

If the US could come up with such an Act within two months, why has it taken Zimbabwe over two decades to start debating about the Patriotic Bill?

How many Zimbabweans have died due to the illegal sanctions called for by the soft-terrorists in our midst?

Terrorists in the US used planes as weapons and the soft-terrorists in our midst are using sanctions, but the effect is the same – innocent people are dying.

When is enough going to be enough! How many more Zimbabweans should die? How much longer should Zimbabweans suffer? ZANU PF should not be apologetic. The time is now to turn the screws.
