YADAH posted an unlikely away win to Chapungu in a hugely entertaining Premier League match at Mandava yesterday.

Ariel Makopa and Ralph Matema’s goals in either side of half-time outweighed Allen Tavarwisa’s strike to ensure they capture their second win on the bounce.

Last week, the clergymen beat Highlanders in the capital and yesterday’s victory means they are now on 12 points from the same number of matches.

For Chapungu, the defeat means they remain on 19 points, five behind early pacesettes FC Platinum.

The Air force side have been making statements of intent with impressive results but the absence of three regular defenders yesterday was exposed by the visitors. Dependable defender Collen Kwaramba was serving a suspension while wing backs Hillary Mugoniwa and Piniel Gumbo were out injured.

Chapungu coach, Rodwell Dhlakama was disappointed with the defeat but lamented the absence of his regular starters as a major Achilles heel.

“I’m disappointed with the defeat; we wanted to win this one, and Yadah had been struggling against us of late.

“But losing is part of the game so we are not going to lose sleep over the result, as we have so many games to play and recover.

“It was always going to be difficult for us since we had three of our defenders out due to injury and suspension,” said Dhlakama.

Yadah trainer Genesis Makombe was happy with the mini resurgence of his men.

“It was a difficult match and I am happy the boys stood up to the task.

“Six points in two games is a massive achievement considering our position on the log table,” said Mangombe.
