THE 2024 Venon Chamba Business Seminars will begin with the hosting of renowned Zimbabwean businessman Dr Chamu Chiwanza on February 24.

In 2023, the seminars ended on a high note, and this year is expected to be marked by more revealing and thought-provoking conferences as the sessions forge ahead with efforts to groom budding entrepreneurs.

Set to run under the theme “Understanding Markets”, the upcoming seminar will be graced by several speakers from different sectors and specialist business disciplines.

Last year, the Venon Chamba Business Seminars hosted several top business luminaries, including Economic Empowerment Group president Mr Mike Chimombe, while revered property mogul Mr Ken Sharpe attended some of the conferences in 2022.

The platform strives to equip entrepreneurs and budding business executives with practical skills on how to build strong foundations when setting up their entities.

It seeks to channel relevant knowledge and life-changing ideas towards the exploitation of available business opportunities in the country.

In an interview, convener Mr Venon Chamba said he was looking forward to inviting various luminaries in the field of business and economics.

“We will be commencing our meetings in February with a diverse range of speakers from different fields. The first business forum of the year is going to be on February 24, 2024 and our guest of honour shall be Dr Chamu Chiwanza.

“During the year, other speakers and guests expected to attend the seminars include Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr John Mangudya, Professor Arthur Mutambara and young entrepreneur Mudiwa Hood. The idea is to raise a new generation of business leaders despite economic challenges,” said Mr Chamba.

The seminars have been held since 2022.

New businesses play an important role in driving economic growth in a country, given their potential to bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to the marketplace, which drive innovation and competitiveness.
Zimbabwe has in the last five years provided a plethora of opportunities to entrepreneurs, particularly in mining, agriculture and manufacturing.

Entrepreneurs sometimes face scepticism and doubt from potential customers, investors and business partners due to their age.

This lack of credibility can make it difficult to gain trust and secure the necessary support to establish and grow a business.
