SEASONED mbira musician Vee Mhofu and the Dziva ReMbira ensemble are set to perform in the United Kingdom on September 2.
The musician – born Virimai Nhedega – said he was looking forward to performing in Birmingham for his debut show in the UK.
“This is a major step in our career. Our graph is growing with each passing day and being invited to play overseas is a clear indication that we are doing the right thing,” Vee Mhofu told The Sunday Mail Online.
The “Mucheka Weretso” hitmaker said hard work was beginning to pay dividends.
“It is every singer’s dream to perform outside borders.
“I have always yearned to perform on the international market so as to showcase our rich music and culture. This is more like a dream come true for me,” he said.
Vee Mhofu won the hearts of many international fans when he performed at the burial of the late mbira music icon, Ambuya Stella Chiweshe.
“I think our performance at the burial of Ambuya Stella Chiweshe exposed us to a much wider and diverse audience, especially those from beyond our borders.”
