vaShagare: Give it up for Nyatanga, Gambe

The Sunday Mail

THERE are some expressions the English language cannot aptly capture; the moment one tries to put it across in the Queen’s language the meaning is lost.
Every day we come across people “vane dzungu”. However, the moment one tries to refer to this lot as suffering from dizziness it becomes a whole different story.
Today Va Shagare feels like anointing Zimbabwean football’s King and Queen of Dzungu.
Emmanuel Makandiwa once said people who suffer from dzungu are always oblivious of what afflicts them. And we have many of them in our midst.
But unlike Shinsoman, the dancehall artiste who is proud of his “dizziness”, these individuals are in the dark. They reckon dzungu is cleverness.
Have you ever come across Alois Bunjira, the Caps Unite board member responsible for marketing?
Bunjira always looks unstable, says a lot but every little of substance and tries so hard to make himself appear as the best thing ever to happen to local football.
Dynamos striker Rodreck Mutuma also suffers from a severe case of dzungu; the way he drops his shorts and always argues with referees are clear symptoms.
Warriors cheerleader Chris “Romario” Musekiwa is also a victim, as is the man on whom Zifa are pinning their Limpopogate investigation – Lee Waguta.
Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters Association founding president Eddie “Mboma” Nyatanga would be a millionaire if “dizziness” were a currency. To his credit Nyatanga has found a way earning some buck from his abundant dzungu, he is now some sort of a kingmaker in our game.
Va Shagare hereby anoints Nyatanga the King of Dzungu.
Where there is a king there must be a queen and for this crown there is no contest. Cecilia Gambe is miles ahead of any other woman, dead or alive.
Yes I know there is Henrietta Rushwaya but Gambe is just in a class of her own. The woman is a disaster, each time she opens her mouth the Richter scale records the impact.
Everyone knows Gambe suffers from dzungu and we all wonder why she hasn’t yet realised it after so many years of wrecking havoc.
The Zimbabwe Women’s Football board member was at it again at Sakubva last Sunday during the league tie between Mutare City and How Mine.
Gambe, dressed in tight denim shorts, a brown jacket and red sneakers, ran like Bolt onto the pitch, hurling insults at referee Brighton Chimene. She felt the Rusape based official was giving Mutare City a raw deal.
And if you thought Gambe would be remorseful after such a stunt then you are in for the shock of your life.
“I paid my US$3 as a supporter and I was only expressing my love for my team. Whatever I did was in my personal capacity and had nothing to do with Zifa.
“How do you know if I was pursuing my personal issue with that referee? He could have owed me money and probably that was the only time I found a chance to approach him,” Gambe told the Manica Post last week.
Gambe also pulled the middle finger at Chimene.
How Zifa have not yet commented on such a shameful act is astonishing.

Well done Knowledge

At a time football players have a reputation of being play boys with small sized tools but deep pockets it’s refreshing to come across a sober guy like Knowledge Musona.
The Warriors forward will next weekend tie the knot with his honey bunch Daisy Rutendo Takundwa.
Yours truly will be one of the guest speakers and for fear of being victimised I will not be giving away the venue.
