I DON’T know much about prayer but am convinced that the way popular Dynamos fan Chris “Romario” Musekiwa prayed soon after last weekend’s Zifa Extraordinary General Meeting is not the right way to talk to God.
Never mind why and how Musekiwa found himself in that meeting, let’s bite into a prayer that had more Phillip Chiyangwa bootlicking statements than those thanking God for an incident free day.
Look Chiyangwa is the type of guy who has his dry jokes hysterically laughed at by praise singers who know the benefits of staying in the good side of a rich guy.
Some of his selfies are downright silly but those around him are smart enough to say “yakaipa mudhara, haaa kumberi Gushungo (This is good, you are the man Gushungo)” in anticipation of a favour or three.
The businessman must be used to some bootlicking by now but there was something special about the way Musekiwa went about the low business at Zifa village last Sunday.
“Mwari tokutendai nekuti matipa Dr Chiyangwa a man of action, we know this guy can bring money. He is the best man for the job, toziva mabasa ake,” said Musekiwa amid giggles and weird glances.
Pity the guy was so engrossed in seventh heaven like Paul he did not get a chance to open his eyes and see the awe on the faces of most people who were in the auditorium.
He pressed on, prayed on.
The Agatha Murudzwa must have been playing in that small round head of Romario… “press on towards your goal.”
It got so bad that the auditorium connived to shout “amen” when my brother clearly still had a lot to say about Chiyangwa to God.
Good people of God, please when you get the chance to pray for the new Zifa boss please do so because Chiyangwa needs more prayers that bootlicking.
He faces a tough task, one that is made even tougher by the fact that his football onions are yet to ripe.
Is it too late to say sorry?
Yours truly stepped on a few toes last weekend as evidenced by the steroids of vitriol that have been coming his way and that of the guys who gave me the soon to be reviewed contract of penning this column.
“(The) Sunday Mail is a national newspaper and for the sports editor of that paper to allow a bitter man in the name of Shagare to spit venom and demonise all teams except Dynamos is just unfair.
“Makomborero Gold Mutimukulu <https://www.facebook.com/mako.gold> and crew tibatsirei. How can Shagare call club CEO and director light weight (it’s) is jus uncalled for. Shagare shld (should) stick to his Dembare Dotcom and leave the national press alone,” posted one Va Chikwaka on Facebook.
He must be one angry Caps United fan.
One who is angry on behalf of his club’s chief executive Joe Makuvire and marketing director Alois Bunjira – two men I described as too little as far as the world of business is concerned.
I could have reproduced more feedback but the point is people – from Dynamos to Division One clubs – are angry with Va Shagare.
I have given stick to just about everyone, every team.
But it’s not pleasant to make the lives of people hell especially on Sunday and having thought long and deep about issues I think yours truly has to apologise.
And my apology is ….
Sorry I will not apologise for expressing my opinion and anyone who has a problem with it can go hang or take the advice that the sports editor gave Va Chikwaka.
Write your own opinion and I will gladly step aside so that your piece gets published.
After a year of writing every week I have outgrown the excitement of seeing my work in print.
Va Shagare exits the scene!
