FORMER Zimbabwe Karate Union president Joe Rugwete’s international profile continues to grow, with the youthful administrator appointed Zimbabwe branch’s chief by the International Karate-Do Goju Kai Association.
“This is to certify that Zimbabwe Goju Kai has officially been recognized as a branch of the All Africa Karate-Do Goju Kai and the International Karate-Do Goju Kai Association headquarters in Japan.
“Sensei Joe Rugwete has been appointed as the official representative of Zimbabwe Goju Kai. “We would like to welcome you and wish you success in the future. We would like to build Goju Kai and empower the people in Zimbabwe,’’ wrote Peter Brandon, president of the All-Africa Karate-do Goju Kai.
Brandon is also IKGA’s vice-president.
Rugwete, a versatile administrator, yesterday, gladly accepted the task to be the inaugural leader of the Zimbabwe chapter of the Karate-do Goju Kai.
“My appreciation goes to the International Karate-do Gojukai Association, and in particular, the President of All-Africa Gojukai Karate – Peter Brandon Shihan, 8th Dan, for showing their confidence in my ability to introduce Gojukai karate to Zimbabwe. “I want to note that my experience in karate as an instructor and administrator, especially in the Africa Union Sports Council Region 5 Karate Federation, where I am the secretary-general, gave me ample opportunity to showcase my capabilities to the international karate world,said Rugwete
