YOUNG GEMS coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki believes the netball squad at his disposal has the capacity to book a ticket to the World Youth Championships.
Mutsauki has called a strong 20 woman squad for next month’s WYC qualifiers in Botswana.
The qualifiers will run from July 23-30 in Gaborone.
“We think we have come up with a strong team. We have called up 20 players for camp but we will travel to Botswana with 14,” said Mutsauki.
The 40-year-old gaffer, who will be assisted by senior national team skipper Perpetual Siyachitema, reiterated the need for his team to have an early camp.
‘We need ample time to go through all the areas with them,” said the City of Harare coach.
“Apart from the usual technical stuff there is also need to work on the mental side of things.
As coaches we will keep telling the young girls of the proud history of this country in netball and what it means to play for the national team so that when they get to Botswana they will be fired up.
“We have proposed that we have our final camp from July 1 and hope to engage some Super League teams for friendly matches in the build to the qualifiers.”
