Zimbabwe Newspapers Harare branch assistant librarian Mr Shepherd Taurai Tashaya, who died on Thursday in Harare, was buried at his rural home in Mhondoro-Ngezi yesterday.

Scores of mourners — among them friends and workmates — joined the family in sending off Mr Tashaya.

Mr Tashaya’s supervisor and chief librarian Mr Gibson Mapfumo told the sombre gathering: “Tashaya loved his work and, most of all, his wife and children.

“His desire was to see his children grow; it is so sad that he passed on without seeing his dream materialise.”

Village headman Mr Patrick Magwiro said Mr Tashaya was loving and always ready to offer assistance where it was required.

“People like him are inimitable,” he said.

Mr Tashaya (46) died in Harare after a short illness.

He joined Zimpapers as an office orderly in October 1990 and was promoted to assistant librarian in 1992.

He is survived by wife Yvonne and three children.
