THE curtain comes down on the Ramah Winter Bowl Twenty20 festival today with the staging of the semi-finals and final at St Aidens Primary School in Chitungwiza.
The festival, a brainchild of the Zimbabwe Twenty20 Cricket Federation, saw seven schools battling for honours.
Group A had the seeded hosts, Zengeza 4 Primary School, North Park and Alfred Beit while group B comprised of Tangenhamo, Fungisai and Glen View 1 Primary Schools.
St Aidens were totally ruthless in their opening two games, beating North Park and Zengeza 4 by 10 and eight wickets respectively.
Tournament Director Cromen Zinyama expressed satisfaction with the tourney’s first day.
“We had invited about 25 teams but unfortunately most of them withdrew. However, this didn’t stop the residents of Chitungwiza from showing up in their numbers, particularly the young kids.
“The aim of this tournament is to spread the game to the high density areas, particularly places like Chitungwiza. We hope to get everyone involved and build a state-of-the-art stadium here.
“As far as the games are concerned, it was a very good opening day. We got a good response from the schools and the level of competition was very high,” he said.
