THE feedback we received over the past weeks on ethics easily proves that we have normalised most things that were once considered taboo.
Ethics seem to no longer matter these days as the situation has clearly turned into a dog-eat-dog affair.
Also, in the past weeks, we talked about the importance of respect.
It is a pity that most people expect to be praised yet they cannot respect others. However, let me remind you that it is never too late to start respecting others or to adopt good life ethics.
There is more good in doing so than being known for bad behaviour.
Respect is fast deteriorating in our society, which needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.
You can only be able to earn respect from others if you have self-respect, which is now lacking in the young generations. The fact that we have young boys and girls that are willing to get married or marry older people for money is serious cause for concern.
In fact, it is quite disturbing.
But I think the older generation is partly to blame for not being firm on teaching young adults the essence of life.
We must encourage them to work hard and warn them of the dangers of unconditional love for money.
Ethics can help a person to easily distinguish between good and bad.
For professionals, learning about business ethics should not be just for getting good grades but implementing the very same knowledge at the workplace.
We have people that wear inappropriate clothes like mini-skirts at work or apply “wild” makeup — this shows lack of professional ethical conduct.
Certainly, clients or potential clients will not have a good perception of such a company.
If you value who you are and are proud of yourself, you will never do any harm to anyone you come across.
It is important to know that everyone is special regardless of the differences we have.
