Start off the right way

All human beings gives and receives greetings.

The process of greeting is deeper than what most people assume.

Whether you respond to or ignore a greeting can have a significant impact on your future.

A greeting can highlight a person’s attitude.

As you share greetings, distance yourself from misfortunes of the past, and look forward to the possibilities that lie ahead.

My typical response to a greeting is: “I’m not complaining, but it can be better”.

This is an assertion that I look forward to better things to come.

That is to say, from the previous day I do not take any regrets, and will seek to do better with the new beginning.

Remember, life flourishes or fails on the good or bad that you give out.

You will not lose anything by wishing someone a blessed day.

Instead you plant the seeds of hope.

Evil people will pass their greetings as a way of checking on your suffering.

They want to confirm if the pain they have inflicted in your life is taking hold.

So, how you respond is important.

Be the enduring type.

Do not allow yourself to contribute to your own misery. Encourage yourself by sending out a positive vibe.

You do not benefit anything by telling someone who cannot help you about your problems, simply because they greeted you.

The concept of “a problem shared is a problem solved” applies if the problem is shared with the right people.

Desist from being a pity corner.

You become a source of gossip for the faint-hearted, if you expose yourself when greeted.

It is not every greeting that is worth a narration.

Keep greetings as simple as they should be, and do not get into the details of your life, or your situation.

Not everyone will understand your situation.

You do not have to pretend to be okay, but allow the pleasantries of a greeting to remain as such.

Do not be surprised how people know so much about your life if you have a habit of giving lectures about your life.

As a principle, be strong and allow greetings to lift you up.

From that first greeting, declare what you want with your life.

Do not drag your past into your present without good cause.

Everyone goes through tough times in life; do not overload the wrong people with your issues.

The best expression of humanity is a warm greeting.

Preserve greetings as a sign of love.

It is pure kindness that every conversation should start with a greeting.

Realise that greetings can be sources of encouragement, as such do not underestimate them.

Exchanging greetings is not the right opportunity to share unsolicited doom and gloom.

What you share with others will always come out.

If you have issues, make time to speak about them with the right person, and in the proper setting.

Always remember that greetings are an expression of love, which in our case derives from the spirit of Ubuntu.

Embrace the love that is being shared in most greetings.
