A CLASH of contrasting styles produced a stalemate and after this Castle Premier Soccer League affair Sunday Chidzambwa and Norman Mapeza faced questions about the Warriors job.

FC Platinum gaffer Mapeza led Zimbabwe to an emphatic 3-0 win over Liberia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last weekend but he won’t be in charge of the team for the Cosafa tournament.

Zifa in their wisdom, or lack of it, have decided to give that task to ZPC Kariba mentor Chidzambwa who revealed that he will announce his Cosafa squad tomorrow.

“It’s an honour to return to the national team although the appointment came at short notice. With this game out of the way I have to spend the night coming up with the squad so that we announce it on Monday at the latest,” said the veteran gaffer.

“It won’t be easy playing at Cosafa but we all have to work hard and make the country proud. It’s not about Sunday but the national team.”

Mapeza loves flair and an open game while Chidzambwa believes in keeping it tight at the back.

The difference was evident here yesterday as ZPC Kariba and FC Platinum played out a goalless draw that was entertaining.

Chidzambwa’s team played on the counter and made use of giant forward Francesco Zekumbawire who had another good game.

The visitors tried to play an open game with Rodwell Chinyengetere, Talent Chawapihwa and Brian Muzondiwa leading the attack.

However, the goals could not come and both camps rued the missed chances.

“We have to continue working hard to make sure that we convert the chances. We are drawing a lot of games,” said Mapeza who refused to comment on the Warriors situation.

“I don’t want to talk about that,” he said.

Chidzambwa said his team had dropped two points.

“This is a case of two points dropped for us because we were playing at home. FC Platinum is a good team but I feel this is a game we should have won,” h e said.

Meanwhile, Chicken Inn shot to the top of the log with a 1-0 victory away to Tsholotsho.

The Gamecocks’ fifth consecutive win, courtesy of a Chris Semakweri first half strike, sealed the deal and took the team’s points tally to 27.

Black Rhinos and Ngezi Platinum, who are in action, today are a point behind.
