DYNAMOS look headed for a record-matching fourth Castle Lager Premier Soccer League crown as the title race heads towards the business end, with the Glamour Boys perched at the top of the standings.

However, amid growing excitement among the club’s faithful as well as administrators, coach Kallisto Pasuwa is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

With just eight games remaining, Pasuwa’s men are three points clear of second-placed Highlanders who are on 39 points.

Debutants ZPC Kariba, who have two defeats to date — the least among the league’s 16 clubs — are placed third.

However, they seem to be losing their footing at the most crucial stage of the campaign as both their losses have come during the second half of the season.

Fourth-placed Caps United are making quite an impression off the field, where their administrative shenanigans might choke their charge towards a winners’ finish they last walked to in 2006 under the mentorship of the revered Charles Mhlauri.

Hwange and FC Platinum are dark horses, being eight and 11 points off the pace, respectively.

A fourth consecutive league title will see DeMbare equalling a feat Bosso achieved between 1999 and 2002.

What would, however, make Dynamos’ fourth more special is the fact that all the titles would have been delivered by one coach in Pasuwa.

Chairman Kenny Mubaiwa declared that the Glamour Boys are now eyeing every other silverware on offer this season after watching last weekend’s TM Pick n Pay 4-1 rout over Highlanders.

However, an ever modest Pasuwa is calling for calmness.

“We still have 24 points to play for, thus talk of winning the title might be premature.

“We have to continue taking each game as it comes because if you look at the log very closely, you will realise that if we don’t take our matches seriously we might end up on position 10.

“So for now, I think the only thing we have achieved is avoiding relegation,” said the Dynamos coach.

DeMbare’s last eight matches will see them visiting FC Platinum, host Shabanie, travel to Moses “Bambo” Chunga’s Buffaloes, welcome Chapungu, meet Harare City in the capital, entertain Bantu Rovers, travel to ZPC Kariba and end the campaign with a home tie against How Mine.

The trio of Buffaloes, Chapungu and ZPC Kariba all beat Dynamos in the reverse fixtures.
