We have always known that he deserved it, but they could never give it to him. We have always known how hard he worked to earn it, but they refused to recognise him.
We have always know that President Mugabe is a champion of peace and prosperity — unity and development in spite of the revolting opposition conspiracy to scorn good achievements that can never be hidden.
President Mugabe last week won the prestigious Confucius Peace Prize for injecting fresh energy into the quest for global harmony and for his national leadership and service to Pan-Africanism as Chairman of the 54-nation African Union, for which he was abundantly praised.
“Ever since Robert Mugabe was sworn in as President of Zimbabwe in the 1980s, he has worked hard to bring political and economic order to the country and to improve the welfare of the Zimbabwean people by overcoming hardship,” said the chairman of the Peace Prize committee, Qiao Damo.
President Mugabe is reported to have weathered stiff competition from the likes of philanthropic Microsoft boss Bill Gates. This renowned award has previously been won by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
But the opposition and opposition media would have none of it. Even the Western sponsored media were at sixes and sevens as they could not fathom how President Mugabe continues to grab the limelight for all the right reasons.
The comedy of trying to discredit the award was too sad to be funny.
If Nigerian politician and grammarian Patrick Obahiagbon were to be asked of his opinion on the crisis that befell the opposition as President Mugabe yet again romped to victory he would have said, “The political crinkle crankle, or if you like, the political higgie hagger that has enveloped the politics of opposition parties in Zimbabwe for a period of ire now, has all the trappings of an odoriferous saga, cue gargantuagaga; and I am maniacally bewildered that this flashpoint is of no serious concern to the commander in chief of the Republic of Zimbabwe.”
Of course the usual suspects such as Obert Gutu and that wholly irrelevant Rugare Gumbo were the first to be bothered by President Mugabe’s latest coup.
As usual Gutu would delve into statistics he has no clue about. And since journalism school, I was always told that if you want to discern if someone is lying just listen to his or her propensity to try and use statistics.
You hear Gutu saying 35 years of being Zimbabwe being run down and yet it was during that very 35 years he managed to get a law degree which he now uses to exercise his puppet mentality.
In fact, he actually learned to speak English in those 35 years in this country but today he is failing to recognise a Peace Prize which President Mugabe obviously deserves.
You hear him rant on about 90 percent of Zimbabweans living on less than a dollar a day. Ninety-percent seriously? Less than a dollar a day – are you sure?
Then if that is the case our tax and revenue streams should be way less than a dollar a day from only about 10 per cent of the population which would mean that this country does not exist.
This why I have always insisted this chap should try and keep an open mind and a shut mouth.
Then this Nhari rebellion sell-out called Rugare Gumbo talks of imaginary State agents harassing people every day. Surely, this nation would have been ungovernable if State agents harassed people every day.
I mean it would actually be a civil war situation if State agents were all over the place harassing people every day. I mean there would be total chaos in the country.
But what can you expect when someone has to give opposition for the sake of it? Indeed what can you expect from someone who sold out during the liberation struggle over 37 years ago?
President Mugabe was awarded the Peace Prize and he rightly deserves it because Zimbabwe is at peace and has always been at peace.
In fact Zimbabwe is the only nation in the whole world that has borne the brunt of a declining economy to such dire levels that present a war situation but not one gun has been fired, not one bullet has been shot, not a single grenade has exploded since President Mugabe was sworn in as Executive President and that is the reason why the Chinese awarded him the Confucius Peace Prize.
The name of the award is also very telling because it comes from a Chinese philosopher who died in 479 BC.
Confucius once remarked: “Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” President Mugabe leads a simple life while the opposition always tries to complicate things.
He also said: “You cannot open a book without learning something. “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall, everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
“If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed; if in terms of ten years, plant trees; if in terms of 100 years, teach the people.”
The wisdom of Confucius is endless and in most cases relates to the great life of President Mugabe that is why this award has bothered many people so much.
It is an appropriate award well-deserved.
