THE Seventh Day Adventist Church in Zimbabwe is growing exponentially, as it continues to capture souls, while rallying the nation to lead righteous lives and shun moral decadency. Last week, the church held its annual camp meetings where congregants converge for seven-days for spiritual retreat.

The last camp meetings were held in 2019, as church gatherings were limited over the past two years due to Covid-19.

Addressing multitudes of congregates who attended one of the camp meetings in Goromonzi, SDA East Zimbabwe Conference (EZC) Pastor Robert Muzira said congregants are increasing.

“This year we have a total of 46 campsites within EZC alone, when we last had camp meeting in 2019 we had 38 campsites. This shows the church is expanding in leaps and bounds. I am pleased to announce that EZC now has about 200 thousand members.”

Pastor Muzira said EZC covers part of Harare, Karoi, Kariba, Birchenough Bridge, Mutare, Headlands, Goromonzi, Macheke, Nyazura and Nyanga.

The SDA church in Zimbabwe has six other conferences and three Unions: Zimbabwe East Union Conference, Zimbabwe Central Union Conference and Zimbabwe West Union Conference.

Unions oversee conferences and each conference has an average of 100 thousand members.

Pastor Muzira said to fortify its growth, the church is closely liasing with regional counterparts such as the Southern Indian Division (SID) – the body that oversees affairs of the church in southern Africa- to exchange notes.

“We are a movement, if a local church grows we create a company then a branch then a full blown church,” he said.
