THE authorities at Destiny Achievers Group of Schools want every learner to succeed in their future endeavours.
They are moulding us to become successful doctors, lawyers, artists, engineers, businesspeople and farmers, among other professionals.
This year, the school resumed the Agriculture Life Skills programme, which is currently being undertaken by Form One up to Form Three classes.
The crucial programme had been put on hold due to lack of resources.
However, our principal, Dr Cynthia Gambiza, has been working tirelessly to make sure lessons resume and has hired a teacher for the subject.
We have been taught crucial aspects of land preparation, which is done before crops are planted.
In our practical sessions, we first cleared the land; we removed weeds and broke up clods so as to create a fine tilth. The processes can either be done using machinery like tractors or manually, with the use of different garden tools.
Some of the crops we planted in the school fields are onions and potatoes.
Farming sustains our lives. No wonder we are taking this project seriously.
When successfully done, it will significantly cut down costs for the school, as we will be self-sustaining, while, at the same time, supplying agricultural products within our community.
Our motto is “Destined for greatness”.
We believe we are going places.
