PREMIERSHIP newboys Yadah FC, who grabbed a valuable point at Nyamhunga yesterday, are not worried by new signing Rodrick “The Prince” Mutuma’s controversial tag.
Mutuma quit Highlanders in a huff to join The Miracle Boys a fortnight ago and his new coach Jairos Tapera insists the striker will add value to his team.
“Roddy is a good player and when we brought him, we were not looking at his past behavior and we are happy with how he has conducted himself since he joined us,” said Tapera.
“There are no targets set for him. We signed him to add value without looking at the number of goals that he will score. We want him to contribute towards our fight against relegation.
“We have advised him to relax and play his game. I know he is player who will suit in perfectly and help the team to achieve its set targets”
During his stay Highlanders, Mutuma formed a formidable striking partnership with Prince Dube.
The duo’s striking prowess saw the team scoring a total of 17 goals in 16 matches.
Of the 17 goals Dube scored six times before his departure to SuperSport United, while Mutuma was on target just twice.
Despite his low scoring rate during the first half of the Castle Lager Premier League season, Tapera still believes in Mutuma.
“Roderick could have scored two goals in the first half of the season but his contribution to the team says a lot about his caliber
“It’s not like we brought him to score goals, what we wanted was someone who could add value to the team and with his experience I think it is a valuable add to the team,” said Tapera who watched his team hold off a ZPC Kariba and pick up their fourth point in two matches.
