Black Rhinos yesterday took their unbeaten run in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League to six matches despite being held by ZPC Kariba at the National Sports Stadium. The army have been enjoying a good run of form and could have collected maximum points against the visitors  had their strikers not been wasteful in the first half.

Despite being held , Rhinos coach Herbert Maruwa was happy with the single point collected and remains optimistic of winning the league title. “We had an opportunity to win the match in the first half but unfortunately we failed to utilize the chances that came our away. “It happens in football.  “The good thing is that we managed to collect a point and we are still in it and I remain optimistic of winning the title,” said Maruwa. The stalemate was also well received by ZPC Kariba coach Godfrey Tamirepi, citing how his charges have been poor on the road.

“We have been poor on the road, losing on many occasions and I am happy that we have managed to collect a point away from home,” said Tamirepi.

Tamirepi defended his decision to employ a cautious approach to the game, as they created just one scoring opportunity all the while defending deep in their own half. “We had to be cautious, that is why we had to defend deep and we were just unfortunate not have grabbed the winner two minutes from time when David Temwanjira failed to beat Ashley Reyners.

.

“I am happy with the discipline my boys exhibited,” said the soft spoken ZPC Kariba gaffer.

ZPC Kariba had Future Sibanda in goals to thank after making some crucial saves in the early stages of the match when he tipped Farai Sibanda’s a well struck free-kick in the fifth minute before denying Leeroy Murape at close range in 10 minutes later.

Despite dominating, Black Rhinos failed to break the ZPC Kariba defence and on the few occasions they managed to make inroads into the visitors defence they failed to convert.
