SUNDAY CHIDZAMBWA was left searching for answers after his side failed to score for the eighth consecutive match after ZPC Kariba were held by Ngezi Platinum Stars at Nyamhunga yesterday. The electricians reportedly convened an emergence meeting soon after the match as they sought solutions to the team’s sudden fall.
The meeting had not been concluded by the time of going to print but indications are that Chidzambwa’s position at ZPC Kariba is now hanging precariously.
While ZPC were mourning two dropped points, debutants Ngezi Platinum Stars were left with just nine points from reaching their season target of 35 points from the remaining 12 matches.
The Tonderayi Ndiraya coached side is now on 26 points having gone for eight matches without a defeat.
Ndiraya said he is experienced enough to know his men are not yet in a position to challenge for the title despite their recent good run.
“Our target for the season is 35 points which we know will see us avoid relegation,” said Ndiraya.
“Today’s result means we are just nine points from achieving that and we are very happy as a team.
“The boys are working very hard with their minds focused on escaping relegation.
“Some people have already started mentioning us in title discussions but having been involved in these grueling challenges myself I know it is rather too early for us to dream about winning the title,” said Ndiraya.
Ngezi Platinum Stars will host How Mine at the Baobab in Week 19 while ZPC Kariba will travel to Gweru for a date with Chapungu.
