IN order to attain a truly prosperous Zimbabwe, it all but made sense for President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa’s victory.

Now that it has been achieved, it is time to turn our focus back to the most important task of continuing the work of rebuilding our beloved Zimbabwe.

President Mnangagwa’s victory is the only and sure means of consolidating the gains made in the first term and advancement of the Zimbabwean dream to become an upper middle-class economy — which is at the crux of his second term in office.

President Mnangagwa has time and again proven his prowess when it comes to advancing Zimbabwe’s economic fortunes and moving forward; it is important to put the election season behind us.

ZANU PF and President Mnangagwa have once again won and all attention should now be focused on economic development and less on politics; there will be another season for that.

Indeed — to whom much is given — much is expected and President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF have not and will not fail the people and our beloved country.

President Mnangagwa, in his inauguration speech, reaffirmed his strong belief in servant leadership by wholeheartedly renewing his commitment to serving all the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe, regardless of tribe, religion, colour, creed or political persuasion. Our people are indeed our country’s greatest asset and most valuable resource and President Mnangagwa’s policies, to date, have all been for the benefit of the people.

To that end, President Mnangagwa, under his renewed mandate, has once again recommitted to continue faithfully upholding and defending our sacred national Constitution and laws, with integrity and impartiality, leaving no one and no place behind.

If anything — Zimbabwe is about to enter into a new era of unparalleled development — thanks to the trust and confidence that the people have placed in President Mnangagwa and our party, ZANU PF.

As always, any policies that will be pursued by the ZANU PF-led Government under President Mnangagwa will be pro-people.

Our people have long suffered under the sheer weight of the illegal sanctions imposed on us by our detractors.

It is through President Mnangagwa’s sanctions-busting efforts such as the engagement and re-engagement policies, as well as the “nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo” approach, that our people have begun building resilience and our economy has started to witness remarkable growth.

The challenges being experienced as a result of these illegal sanctions will be overcome through unity amongst our people, who must always put Zimbabwe first.

President Mnangagwa has indeed built a firm foundation for Zimbabwe to achieve Vision 2030 and economic freedom.

This has been made abundantly clear by the massive and never-before-seen infrastructure development shaping up in every part of the country — which has seen Zimbabwe begin to rise at an exponential rate. There seems to be nothing capable of stopping its ascendancy.

All this comes at a time when my party, ZANU PF, has been spearheading efforts to strengthen relations and improve engagements with our sister liberation parties in an attempt to keep the revolutionary parties together, for our common and shared history is what binds us.

With such a shared sense of fraternity amongst our fellow revolutionary parties, we, as the ZANU PF governing party, are poised to even reach greater heights in terms of our development trajectory for the benefit of our people. The ZANU PF-led Government, under President Mnangagwa, will indeed deliver on the promises that it has made to the people. It will continue its mission of transforming the living standards of all our people — with a focus on accelerating the welfare of those in rural communities — and, at the same time, not neglecting the concerns of those in urban areas, who have endured poor service delivery for far too long.

Modernisation and industrialisation will, thus, continue being at the centre of the Second Republic and going forward into President Mnangagwa’s second term, such programmes will be implemented in the 35 000 rural communities nationwide.

Going forward, President Mnangagwa’s vision is to further provide resources towards the modernisation of the health, education and arts sectors.

This is all part of President Mnangagwa’s ambition of having a total economic turnaround, as well as massive improvements in the daily lives of our people.

The responsive policies, projects and programmes, which began during President Mnangagwa’s first term of office, are certainly on course to lift many more of our people out of poverty and into prosperity.

As evidenced by successes in the economy’s different sectors that have culminated in massive infrastructure development projects — Zimbabwe being food-secure and energy secure — the country is now indeed taking its position as a leader in terms of meeting our people’s needs and transforming our economy within the region. All this can only be attributed to President Mnangagwa’s visionary leadership, which has enabled him to steer Zimbabwe out of murky waters, and with him at the helm for a second term in office, success lies just within our horizon.

By re-electing President Mnangagwa, our people have chosen freedom, economic prosperity and a positive change in their daily lives.
