WARRIORS coach Kallisto Pasuwa is under the spotlight after the national team’s disastrous show at the ongoing African Nations Championship in Rwanda.
Yesterday’s 0-1 loss to Mali condemned Zimbabwe to an early flight back home.
After falling by the same score line to neighbours Zambia in the opening game, the Warriors needed a strong reaction against Mali.
However, Pasuwa’s men failed to deliver, much to the disappointment of some local soccer fans who took to social media last night to express their disgust.
Below are some of the comments.
Addy Dutsa Chikowore – Can we really blame the coach? I don’t think so, the boys played well but as usual wasted chances. It’s always the problem with Zimbabwe missing goals at will.
Faith Silandulo Dube – Poor preparation will most inevitably lead to what we witnessed. It will be grossly unfair to blame Pasuwa for the events in Rwanda. Generally the boys had a good show but the lack of competitive practice before tourney is showing up.
Winchester Mulizane – Pasuwa must not be fired but let’s hire an experienced coach and he becomes assistant. Mhofu (Sunday Chidzambwa) and Roy Barreto were once assistant coaches to Fabish at their pick for a reason.
Brian Bibbs Muyengwa – Poor strikers, defensive blunders cost us as well, it’s the same script, so many missed chances, conceding from set pieces as well.
Cleopas Taguma Neuso – To me the coach did not play his cards very well on both games on the starting eleven and substitutions. He is a poor tactician. For the sake of continuity, Pasuwa has to be retained and hoping for better preparations.
Wilfred Moyo – Same free kick position, it seems like we don’t work on our mistakes. And all those chances. It seems like our coach wasn’t ready for this CHAN tournament. Maybe he is worried about the issue of his contract.
Morgen Sikwila – The bad relationship between Pasuwa and ZIFA contributed to all this scenario. Does he have a contract with ZIFA? We were bound to lose out because of lack of adequate training.
Albert Mirirayi Chekayi – I now understand what Ben Koufie meant when he said even a coach from the moon will not lead Zimbabwe into qualification. Already we are blaming a coach who had no single friendly match. It is sickening!!!
Witness Mapamba Guzhumbwe – If this is the man that we are trusting with our Afcon qualification then we are in deep trouble. To me, Pasuwa is not Warriors material. Zifa please bring back Mapeza
HKD Mafia – Can Pasuwa still afford to demand $ 7000 a month after this rubbish? I doubt it very much. The guy is poor tactically while his team selection leaves a lot to be desired. Omega Sibanda was right after all. This guy must be fired pronto.
