Pasuwa has done more than Chidzambwa

THERE are some lucky bastards in this world, individuals who are viewed as legends without doing much. Then there are some unfortunate souls who do so much and get very little respect, very little “sando” as street lingo would have it. A guy might even walk on water and some people will say the water was frozen.

After all he has achieved at Dynamos and with the men’s national soccer team, there are some armchair critics – Facebook critics – who still have the temerity to question the man’s achievements.

The Warriors’ early exit from the Cosafa Castle Cup has triggered a flurry of questions about Kalisto Pasuwa.

Can we trust this man with our campaign at Afcon 2017? Is Pasuwa a good coach or he is just a lucky fellow? In this modern day is there room for chipostori in football?

It’s a bit unfair, if you ask me.

Granted, Pasuwa is not the most eloquent gaffer we have; his pre and post-match interviews seem to be on auto cue and they never end without him saying “maybe”.

But the guy is a damn good coach.

Four league titles on the bounce with DeMbare, taking the Young Warriors to the All-Africa Games and securing our third Afcon dance are no mean feats.

Clearly Pasuwa has achieved much more than any other coach in this land, including Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa.

The recent Cosafa Castle Cup exit is difficult to swallow, especially after the Warriors fluffed so many chances in that goalless draw with Madagascar.

Obadiah Tarumbwa was terrible against Madagascar, if we didn’t know him better we would have asked for DNA tests to be done on his kids.

Some coaching manuals state that there is little else a coach can do after his team creates but fluffs chances.

That the Cosafa Cup shamble came a few months after an insipid Africa Nations Championships campaign in Rwanda puts our locally based players firmly under the spotlight.

Twice there have been given a chance to impress and twice they have disappointed.

These guys should not be surprised when they don’t make the cut when Pasuwa announces his squad for Gabon 2017.

The Afcon finals are not a place for a bunch of losers who claim they can do better than Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona but mess it up when given the chance to do so.

It is evident that Pasuwa has his Warriors core and has been using tournaments such as Chan to look at some players who have been bubbling under.

Apart from Tatenda Mukuruva, Bruce Kangwa and Elisha Muroiwa none of the players that Pasuwa took to the Cosafa Castle Cup deserve a seat on the plan to Gabon 2017 on current form.

Chiyangwa still does selfies
Phillip Chiyangwa and his team appear to mean business with their attempts to lure Kenny Ndebele and Taurayi Mangwiro as general secretary and technical director respectively.

However, there appear to be a few power hungry fellows in the Nafaz ranks and these individuals need to have their tails cut before they storm into the church naked.

Posts in the national soccer governing body should not be used to settle scores or rail road ideas without much deliberations having taken place.

With all that is going on at the soccer governing body, including the High Court hearing, Sir was amused to note that Chiyangwa is still shooting selfies. The latest I have seen is of Chiyangwa dressed as a rhumba star.
