Rising murder cases involving married couples, relatives and friends have become worrying for the police.

On May 9, a Tsholotsho man, Qhelani Tshabalala (36), reportedly fatally assaulted his wife Kujani Mudenda (32) for following him to Mlagisa Business Centre where a band, Mlambos, was performing.

“In a related case, Christopher Museredza (36) committed suicide by drinking an unidentified poison after fatally assaulting his wife Revai Liaison (35) on May 12, 2022 at Fairview Farm, Mazowe,” reads a police statement released on Wednesday.

Christopher Museredza had accused his wife of engaging in extramarital affairs.

In another case, a mentally challenged man, Trust Sinarwo (33) of Mativenga Village in Masvingo, fatally stabbed his cousin Wisdom Sinarwo (22) on May 12 this year after the victim reprimanded him for hurling obscenities.

“Meanwhile, on May 12, 2022 at Chikerema Village Chatsworth, Perai Mugure (41) assaulted his daughter Rutendorwashe Mugure (16) to death after she tried to refrain him from assaulting her mother, Fungai Munzwa (42),” adds the statement.

“The police implores traditional leaders who include village or kraal heads and chiefs to assist families and associates to resolve differences in a peaceful manner. Police officers will continue to conduct awareness campaigns by urging all stakeholders to respect the sanctity of human life.”
