THERE was no joy for the Zimbabwean quartet of Knox Mutizwa, Devine Lunga, Danny Phiri and Edmore Sibanda as Golden Arrows lost 1-2 against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Cup semi-final at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban yesterday.

Mutizwa provided the assist for Arrows’ goal, but he failed to get onto the scoresheet as South African Premeirship champions Sundowns marched to the final, where they will meet either Willard Katsande and Khama Billiat’s Kaizer Chiefs or former CAPS United star Gabriel Nyoni’s Maritzburg United.

Chiefs and Maritzburg will feature in the other semi-final at the Mbombela stadium this afternoon.

Warriors’ striker Mutizwa struck twice while Phiri chipped in with the other as Arrows upstaged Sundowns 3-2 in a league match just before the international break.

However, this time around Pitso Mosimane’s men got the better of Steve Khompela’s Abafana Bes’thende as there was no joy for the Zimbabwean players.

Lunga, who picked up a groin injury during the Warriors camp, was on the bench for Arrows, but his countrymen – big goalkeeper Sibanda, the gritty Phiri and Mutizwa, started the game.
