Nicki Minaj slammed

The Sunday Mail

NICKI Minaj faced public backlash on Tuesday after tweeting the day before that a friend of her cousin developed swollen private parts and impotence after getting vaccinated against Covid-19.

In a series of tweets on Monday, the 10-time Grammy nominated rap artist told fans she would only get immunised once she did enough research and recommended that they wear masks and get the shots if they are required to go for work.

Most people, however, seized on her comments about her cousin’s friend, which many people criticised as spreading false information.

MSNBC national correspondent Joy Ann Reid criticised Minaj: “You have 22 million followers on Twitter. For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives, by God sister, you can do better than that.”

Doctors were quick to point out that whatever Minaj’s relative’s friend was suffering from were not known side effects from getting the shots.

Britney takes a

break from social media

Britney Spears has announced she is “taking a break” from social media following her engagement to her boyfriend, Sam Asghari.

The singer caused some confusion on Tuesday when fans noticed her Instagram account had disappeared, initially leading some to believe it had been deactivated.

But Spears later clarified she had deleted the account herself: “Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement!!! I’ll be back soon,” she wrote on Twitter.

Spears’ Instagram account has long been a focus in the battle over her conservatorship, a complex legal arrangement she was placed under in 2008.

The agreement, usually reserved for the very old or infirm, put her father, Jamie Spears, in charge of her finances, healthcare and other major decisions.

Rihanna drops lawsuit against her father

RIHANNA has withdrawn the lawsuit against her father Ronald Fenty, who was accused of using the singer’s name for his own gain. On September 7, the “Sex With Me” singer and her companies — Roraj Trade LLC and Combermere Entertainment Properties — filed a stipulation of dismissal for the lawsuit, according to Complex.

The claim named Mr Fenty, his company Fenty Entertainment LLC and his business partner Moses Joktan Perkins.

Back in 2019, Rihanna filed a lawsuit against her father for trying to capitalise off the Fenty name.

The “Anti” singer believed her father was using her likeness in violation of the trademark she established.

The Bajan beauty sent multiple cease-and-desist letters to her father, but he ignored her warnings. As a result, she pursued legal action against him, originally seeking US$75 million in damages.

“Although Mr Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf, nor has he ever been authorised to use her name, intellectual property or publicity rights,” the suit read.

“Similarly, neither Mr Perkins nor the company has any affiliation whatsoever with Rihanna.”

Daniel Craig confesses

Daniel Craig has opened up about his difficult experience as the star of the James Bond franchise in a new documentary for Apple TV+.

In “Being James Bond”, the 007 actor describes how he felt “physically and mentally under siege” while trying to cope with his new found fame.

“My personal life was affected by being that famous all of a sudden,” he says.

“I used to lock myself in and close the curtains, I was in cloud cuckoo land. I was physically and mentally under siege.”

Craig also reveals that it was his fellow actor Hugh Jackman who “helped me to come to terms with it and appreciate it”.

Jackman, who starred with Craig in the 2009 play “Steady Rain”, was actually approached about the role of Bond before Craig, but turned it down.

Craig was also initially prepared to turn down the role until he was persuaded by producer Barbara Broccoli, who insisted he was the right actor for the part.

In 2015, he infamously claimed he would rather “slash his wrists” than make another Bond film.

He later explained his remark to late-night host Stephen Colbert, commenting: “Look, there is no point in making excuses about it, but it was two days after I had finished shooting the last movie. I went straight into an interview and someone said, ‘Would you do another one?’ And I went, ‘No!’

“And instead of saying something with style and grace I gave a really stupid answer.” Craig is now the longest-serving lead actor in the Bond franchise, with forthcoming film “No Time To Die” being his final appearance as the super spy.

“Being James Bond” is available now on Apple TV+.
