The Zimbabwe Netball Association (ZINA) seem to have fulfilled their promise to rope in Rainbow Amateur Netball League (RANL) players into the 25-member squad that is expected to travel to Malawi for the Confederation of Southern Africa Netball Associations (COSANA) games.

Returning after a 12-year hiatus, the games are slated for June 12 to June 17 in Malawi.

The Gems are expected to also travel with a few juniors.

The olive branch has since been extended to players such as ZRP Mambas’ Cynthia Gamuchirai, Correctional Queens’ Ndaizivei Madzikangava, Tafadzwa Mawango and Linda Nkoronko, Glow Petroleum’s Ursula Ndlovu, Beverly Chipadze, Paidamoyo Tinoza and Beulah Hlongwane, all of whom ply their trade in the RANL.

Gems head coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki is set to oversee the 25 players during the team’s camp, after which he will trim it to 12.

“As we had said from the start, we will have a series of camps and we intend to give everyone a fair shake,” Mutsauki said.

“We will trim down the squad to focus on a smaller group, after which the focus will be building combinations and strategies.

“However, this does not mean that this is the final team that will travel to Manchester and the qualifiers.”
