ZIMBABWE’s foreign currency receipts grew to US$4,9 billion during the first five months of this year and could to surpass the US$9,7 billion record achieved last year, a senior official has said.
Zimbabwe earns its forex mainly from mineral and agricultural exports, including Diaspora remittances, among others.
At a media briefing in the capital, Finance and Economic Development Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga said: “For the period ending May 2022, we have had a record of foreign currency inflows of US$4,9 billion.
“This actually indicates that if we follow the same trajectory, we are on course to achieve a record US$12 billion of inflows.” – New Ziana
