Zimbabwe will soon start receiving one million doses of Covid-19 vaccines every month, as it ramps up its immunisation drive to achieve herd immunity.
DHL International has also offered Government “concessionary tariffs for the shipment of vaccine consignment under an arrangement that will ensure the timeous and safe delivery of vaccines to the country”.
Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said in a statement on Thursday Government has mobilised US$100 million towards the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines to cover a significant portion of the population for the next few months.
“I am pleased to announce that the Government has this week received 1,056,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines purchased from China, which are being made available to Zimbabwe citizens free of charge at designated vaccination centres,” he said.
The private sector has also weighed in with critical support.
