THE Zimbabwe A cricket side were staring at yet another defeat as the hosts were bundled out for 116 at lunch on the second day of their three-day match against the visiting Durham County at Takashinga Cricket Club on Wednesday.

In response to the English county’s side’s first innings total of 196 declared, Zimbabwe A posted a paltry 116, with only five batters managing double-digit figures.

Skipper Ainsley Ndlovu and seamer Victor Nyauchi top-scored for the hosts with 35 and 21 runs, as Zimbabwe A’s lower order showed more fight and resistance than the team’s trusted batters.

The duo seemed to be the only Zimbabwe A players keeping the team in the match as they also combined for seven wickets to restrict Durham to only 196 on Tuesday.

The other three batters to reach double-digit figures were Milton Shumba (11), Tadiwanashe Marumani (10) and Michael Chinouya, who finished unbeaten on 15 runs off 33 balls.

When the game resumed, Durham were 22 runs for the loss of no wicket and leading by 99 runs.

Openers Michael Jones and skipper Scott Borthwick were unbeaten on 16 and six runs, respectively.
