WARRIORS’ coach Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic has given a hint of his starting line-up for Friday’s 2022 World Cup qualifier against South Africa, with veteran Onismor Bhasera likely to partner Alec Mudimu in a makeshift centre back partnership.

From Thursday morning’s training session, it looks like Mamelodi Sundowns’ new acquisition Divine Lunga will occupy the left back position with Zambian-based Takudzwa Chimwemwe operating on the right channel in a back four set-up.

Veteran goalie Washington Arubi will guard the goal for Zimbabwe, who are expecting a good start to their quest to finally break the jinx and qualify for the World Cup finals.

Zimbabwe are in a defensive crisis following the unavailability of United States-based Teenage Hadebe, Brendan Galloway (Plymouth Argyle), Jordan Zemura (Bournemouth) and Wigan Athletic skipper Tendayi Darikwa due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Veteran midfielder, Thabani Kamusoko, looks set to partner France-based Marshal Munetsi at the base of the midfield with skipper Knowledge Musona and Kuda Mahachi coming in from the wings.

Kaizer Chiefs star, Khama Billiat, is likely to slot in just behind Tino Kadewere, who is expected to lead the line for the Warriors.

Zimbabwe host South Africa in their opening Group G qualifier at the National Sports on Friday.

Kick-off is 3pm and no fans are allowed in the stadium.

Arubi believes Zimbabwe have a good chance of coming out with a positive result.

“We would have loved to have our fans backing us but due to Covid-19 they will not be there. However, we know they will be supporting us in spirit,” he said.

“We need a good start to this World Cup campaign and the good thing is that we are starting at home,” said the Marumo Gallants goalie.

Zimbabwe are in Group G alongside Ghana, Ethiopia and South Africa.

Warriors probable line up: W. Arubi, T. Chimwemwe, A. Mudimu, O. Bhasera, D. Lunga, M. Munetsi, T. Kamusoko, K. Mahachi, K. Billiat, K. Musona, T. Kadewere
