UZ SPARKS and JBC continued their march towards their Harare Basketball Association (HBA) Super Six titles, courtesy of convincing wins during the league’s Youth Day programme at Sunrise Sports Club on Wednesday.

Sparks ensured they remain the only unbeaten team in the league with a 53-48 win over defending women’s champions Vixens.

The win saw the title favourites cement their spot at the top of the women’s log standings with 28 points from 15 matches.

The only blemish to their record is a forfeited match during the early rounds of the 2023/2024 HBA Super Six league last year.

Vixens are second, two points behind, while third-placed Blades beat newbies Bunnies 42-39 to take their points tally to 22 points from 15 matches.

Sparks, Vixens and Blades currently occupy the automatic qualification spots for the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) National League that will held in Gweru later this year.

Harare City Hornets got their first win of the season when they beat Fillies 42-38.

Unfortunately, the result did very little for their survival hopes as they still anchor the log standings with 16 points, while Fillies (19) currently occupy the fifth-place play-off spot.

In the men’s category, JBC easily saw off UZ Stars 82-35 to move to 29 points from 15 matches.

Basket Hounds also registered a big win when they beat Leopards Academy 80-64, while Arcadia Bucs saw off Mbare Bulls 60-47.

This saw Bucs remain on the tail of log leaders JBC with 24 points, while Hounds (23), Leopards Academy (22), Mbare Bulls (18) and UZ Stars (17) wrap up the men’s log standings.
