STUDENTS have been implored to leverage on technology to develop products suitable for the local economy.
Addressing the International Conference on Academic Excellence for Leadership Transformation and Innovation in Africa in Mutare on Thursday, Africa University Vice Chancellor, Reverend Professor Peter Mageto said:
“Innovation has become an extremely important part of the university learning, teaching, and research ecosystem, also permeating many areas of today’s industrial sector.
“Zimbabwe, and Africa as a continent, have come to the realisation that economic growth, human development and the achievement of sustainable development goals cannot be achieved if we do not embrace smart technologies, innovation and commercialisation of goods and services.”
The two-day conference is running under the theme: ‘Academic Excellence for Leadership Transformation and Innovation in the Digital Era’.
