LOG leaders JBC and UZ Sparks look set to go into the Easter holiday break on top and favourites to lift the 2023/2024 Harare Basketball Association (HBA) Super Six men and women’s titles, respectively.

This follows yet another dominant weekend, with UZ Sparks maintaining their unbeaten run with a 91-13 thrashing of newbies Fillies at Sunrise Sports Club.

The win raises their points tally to 36 from 19 matches, with two rounds of action left in the season.

The only blemish on Sparks’ record is a match they forfeited earlier in the season.

Reigning HBA Super Six women’s champions Vixens are hot on their heels, with the Harare basketball giants also winning big when they beat Harare City Hornets 49-32.

The win put Vixens on 33 points from their 19 games.

The match between JBC and UZ Stars was postponed, but Basket Hounds saw off Arcadia Bucs 96-76 to solidify second spot with 30 points from 19 matches.

Bucs fell a rung down into third, with the same number of points (30) from 19 matches.

JBC top the men’s standings with 32 points from 17 matches.

Action resumes this weekend for the final round of games before the league breaks for the Easter All-Star Games.

A lot of challenges are lined up for the Easter festivities, with the highlights being the slam dunk contest, three-point shoot-out and the actual all-star match, among others.
