THE local hip-hop fraternity is set to honour Costa Titch, the late South African rapper who collapsed and died on stage last week.

Zimboy Jackson (born Tafadzwa Muchechetere), the founder of the Changamire Zim Hip-Hop Festival described the late artiste as a brother and inspiration with whom the local hip-hop fraternity shared fond memories.

“Only last year, Titch was the guest of honour during the 7th edition of the Changamire Zim Hip-Hop Awards. He was here in Harare and we had a great time with him,” Zimboy said.

The late singer is set to be awarded posthumously at this year’s edition of the awards.

Zimboy said Titch played a significant role in popularising hip-hop in Zimbabwe.

“It is an insult to talk about Zim hip-hop without mentioning Titch. He played a very big role in making this genre popular.  We are going to honour him. We are going to make sure that somehow, his family receives his award,” Zimboy said.
